1. Sissu Village (3130m altitude on the right bank of river Chandra)


  Sissu which is also known by the name  (Khwaling) is the first village in Lahoul spiti.
It's around 40km from Manali and after crossing the Atal tunnel the first village in Lahoul will be sissu
It's a small beautiful town and u  must visit some beautiful places here.

On the way to Sissu, we found a waterfall on the way which was frozen with snow and an example of beautiful nature.

In the future sissu, Ek bahut famous tourist attraction Banane Wala hai Kyuki atal tunnel ke North portal se nikalte hi-pass may be Pehle ye village aata hai aur atal tunnel jo ki all-weather tunnel hai uske karan Lahaul-Spiti and sissu se connectivity easily ho jati 12 Months k liye.

Points to be noted 


1.  You will get tea stalls here but to promote the clean India movement waste open Mai throw nahi kre be a responsible citizen 

2.  For staying hotels aur camps available hai yaha in winters and garmi mai thand k maja lene k liye bhi aap yaha aa skte hai aur sath mai PWD ka rest house b hai yaha.

3.  Labrang village Jo ki sissu se  3.3 km dur hai waha apko ek Buddhist Gompa milega jisse Labrang Gompa Bolte hai jo waha ki goddess Palden Lhamo ko dedicated hai.

4. Temple of Raja Ghepan-

 Lord Gyephang or  RajaGhepan is the presiding deity of Lahaul also called The protector of people. The temple of LordGhepan is in this village. The temple is not open to outsiders. In two-three, years the deity is taken out of the temple during a procession.

5. Sissu nulla flows down a narrow gorge from the Gyephang peak glaciers.

6. Terrace farming Is done here and terraces are
 green with barley, peas, buckwheat, and potatoes.

7. Snow trout is also available in the village near the riverside.


2. Koksar (3140 m altitude on the right bank of the river Chandra)





Khoksar remains covered with snow in winters.
It's surrounded by mountains and avalanche prone. 5kms ahead of khoksar is Gramphu from where a diversion to the left leads to Kaza.


3.  Gondhla (altitude 3160 m on the right
bank of river Chandra)


Gondhla village is 18kms from Keylong (district headquarters). GONDHLA CASTLE house of the Thakur of Gondhla is built more than 300 years ago locally called "char". 
According to The District Gazetteer of Lahaul & Spiti.
The fort was built in 1700 A.D. by Raja Man Singh of Kullu.


4.  Suraj Taal (altitude 16000 ft)

Suraj  Taal or the lake of the Sun god is situated well on the summit of the  Bara-lacha-la. The Bhaga river rises in this lake. It is 8 km in length. It is the third-highest lake in India. It is a high altitude lake. Glacier and snow melts are inflows of it.

  • Suraj Taal lake is 65 km from Keylong
  • You will not get any dhabas or shops near it
  • Lake is open to visitors from June to September
  • You have to take care as due to high altitude oxygen content is low which may cause Acute Mountain Sickness (AMA).

5. Chandratal lake (altitude 14100 ft)

Tso chikgma or the lake of the moon is a sweet water lake. It is usually associated with spiti but geographically part of Lahaul.

Kunzum La separates Lahaul and Spiti valleys
  • Rooms set free on rent by the villagers at Kunzum Pass and Batal are the Foremost options to stay.
  • In Summers, tourists prefer to stay in camp at Chandra Tal.
  • Lake is 140 km from Manali and roughly takes   7-8 hours from Rohtang pass
  • If you love trekking you can go on a trek via Hamptapass to Chandratal lake.
  • The lake is accessible by road from Batal. The best time to visit the lake is from late May to early October. It takes approximately 2 hours from Kunzum Pass to Chandratal lake.
  • You can also go to Chandratal lake from Suraj Tal which is 30kms.
By Public Transport (HRTC BUSES)- 

 Manali to Chandratal - HRTC bus from Manali to Kaza
                                          
Shimla to Chandratal-   HRTC bus from Shimla to
Reckong Peo. From Reckong Peo board another bus to Kaza and from Kaza board a bus to Manali
and get down at Chandra Tal Lake diversion point. You can cover the remaining distance by hiking.


6. Baralacha la (altitude 16043 ft)

Located at a distance of 75 Km from Keylong it maybe after a major attraction on Manali-Leh road. The pass connects two well-known mountain ranges of India Zanskar Valley and Pir Panjal.


7. Udaipur  (altitude 2743 m)


Udaipur is a tourist attraction for two Unique Temples

         Triloknath temple-

It is about 9 km from the Village of Udaipur. It is sacred to both Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists. It is nearly 45 km from Keylong. Its ancient name is Tundra Vihar. In the Tibetan language it is called, 'Garja Fagspa' by the locals.

A popular story says that a Kulu Raja reached Trilokinath, and he tried to hold off the idol, but he got defeated within the attempt because the stone became too heavy to move. There is also a mark on the proper leg of the marble figure, which is claimed to possess from a sword blow by a Kullu soldier of that point.
           
         Markula Devi temple

This beautiful temple is of Ajayvarman's reign in Kashmir. Inside the temple main statue area is very small. One has got to sit and move to enter inside.
The temple is built in Kashtkuni style.  It is believed the temple was built in the 11 or 12th century and is situated above Bazaar at Udaipur.
